Additional Information:
Please avoid using any type of tape or adhesive on your grille.  Should you need to paint or do any type of wall finish in the area your grille is located, please cover it with cloth and then plastic.
Should you have any questions regarding care or cleaning, please call our Advanced Arch Grilles customer service team at 516-488-0628.  Our goal is to help you keep your architectural grille in the same condition as the day it was fabricated by our craftsmen.

What is anodizing and what are the advantages of anodizing?

Anodizing is an electromechanical process whereby an aluminum, architectural grille is placed in a water and sulfuric acid bath and exposed to positive and negative electrical charges. The process causes a conversion of the molecules on the architectural grille’s surface which adds a thin protective layer of anodic material.

The change in surface material provides a durable, corrosion-resistant, easy-to-clean, and decorative finish that gives anodized aluminum grilles a rich character.

An anodized finish is preferred when your advanced architectural quality grilles will be used in a moisture rich environment, on a window or sill exposed to sunlight (UV light), for an outdoor application or for a floor grille which may be exposed to foot traffic or cleaning solvents. The Advanced Arch Grilles team can provide various anodized finishes including clear satin anodized, black satin anodized, and bronze duranodic anodized in both light and dark which provides a bronze, statuary look.

Are access doors available for both linear bar grilles and perforated metal grilles?

Any style of linear bar grille or decorative metal grille your project requires can be fitted with a wide range of access door sizes and styles.  We can customize your access door width and length, location, direction of opening (hinging), the type of hinge, solid panel, perforated panel, linear bar and loose or drop in doors.  Multiple doors and customized locations are our specialty. All doors are specifically designed with your needs in mind.
Additionally, by utilizing the Artistry In Architectural Grilles patented* Plaster J-Bead® * grille line, all cores are removable for access to dampers, ducts and filters.

What is the maximum width and length of an aluminum linear bar grille?

Our linear bar grille experts are capable of unlimited possibilities. When determining the maximum size of a grille, many factors need to be considered such as the application, material thickness,  mounting / installation requirements, finish specifications and also access to the site.  We have provided linear bar grilles ranging from 120″ long to 80″ height.
Should your project require wider or longer aluminum bar grilles, the Advanced Architectural Grilleworks team can custom fabricate and fasten numerous sections to create width and continuous length options to match your projects’ needs.  Custom mounting frames, brackets, tabs and structures are also available.  Our in-house metal architectural grille experts can design and custom laser any configuration you require.
Please see our project gallery for examples of customized linear bar grilles.

Can you provide “mud” grille that enables us to have a borderless installation in plaster or dry-wall?

Yes, the AAG Advanced Architectural Grilleworks Plaster J-Bead® * Frame combined with a linear bar grille provides a flush, borderless installation for plaster and drywall applications on walls and/or ceilings. Also known in the industry as a “mud grille”, it provides a seamless wall or ceiling installation.

The Plaster J-Bead® * design is quickly fastened to the wall via the outer flange by either screwing or nailing through the pre-drilled holes.  After fastening, the flange is covered with a skim coat of plaster providing your customer with a clean, flush appearance.

This custom fabricated linear bar grille is available in aluminum with a full range of finishes: satin #4, satin – clear anodized, mirror polish #8, prime painted, or powder coated.

The core can be fixed (welded to the frame), or removable for access to damper controls.
This design is available on all linear bar grille models with an A or Band style frame.
See also, our extensive line of stock for your quick ship requirements.
AAG Advanced Architectural Grilleworks is the exclusive manufacturer of the Plaster J-Bead® * linear bar grille frame.

Once I place an order how long will it take before I receive submittal drawings?

In all cases less than 24 hours and in most cases, you will receive your linear bar grille, perforated metal grille or custom architectural metal work submittal drawings the same day your order is placed with Advanced Arch Grilles. Larger projects may take slightly longer.

When is a grille with an access door required?

A door in any type of architectural grille is used to gain access to heat and ventilation controls, a thermostat, heating and cooling control valves, ventilation air treatment filters, or electrical or mechanical switches or devices.

You have unlimited options regarding the placement of a door in either a linear bar grille or perforated grille.  In addition, AAG Advanced Architectural Grilleworks can provide doors customized for your specific application with limitless possibilities for the following:

How can I determine the open area of a linear bar grille?

Artistry in Architectural Grilles has created an Open Area Calculator in the bar grille section which enables you to calculate the open area in square inches and percentage open for the full range of linear bar grilles.  Simply enter the neck size of your grille and select from one of the many linear bar styles and one of the frame styles.
Should you need additional performance data or information, please contact one of our linear bar grille specialists at 516-488-0628 or sales@aag2019.thirteenprime.com.

How can I determine the open area of a perforated grille?

Artistry in Architectural Grilles provides an Open Area Calculator in the perforated grille section which enables you to calculate the open area in square inches and percentage open for the full range of perforated grilles.
Simply select a grille style and enter the overall grille height and length along with the dimensions of the opening where the grille will be placed.  The overall grille will be sized so that the opening will be covered by the patterned area and a border will surround that pattern.
Should you need additional performance data or information, please contact one of our perforated grille specialists at 516-488-0628 or sales@aag2019.thirteenprime.com.

How do I measure when ordering linear bar grilles?

Linear bar grilles, with or without a frame will typically fit into an opening.  Inspect your opening to be sure it is clear; in other words, there are no obstructions that might interfere with the grille fitting into that opening.
Then measure top to bottom for the height (H) and left to right for the length (L) of your opening.  This information will be provided to your customer support team here to determine the best fitting grille for your opening.
LBG LxH
With A Frame or Band Frame grilles (flangeless), the grille size for both the height and length will be 1/16” less than the dimensions of the opening to ensure proper clearance.
With B Frame, C Frame, or Bead Frame grilles (flanged), the grille neck size for both the height and length will be 1/8” less than the dimensions of the opening to ensure proper clearance.

How do I measure when ordering perforated grilles?

For the best visual presentation and performance (optimal air flow), the overall grille will be sized so that the opening (vent or duct) will be covered by the patterned area and a border will surround that pattern.  Border size and pattern size can be varied to your preference.
Inspect your opening to be sure it is clear;  in other words, there are no obstructions that might interfere with the grille fitting into or over that opening.
Perf LxH
Then measure top to bottom for the height (H) and left to right for the length (L) of your opening.  This information will be provided to your customer support team here at Advanced Arch Grilles to determine the best fit for your opening.
If you require a certain-sized border, you can specify the dimensions (both height and length) of the border.  Or if you prefer, your customer support team can recommend an aesthetically-pleasing and proportioned border size for the grille you select.

What purpose do architectural grilles and registers serve?

Architectural grilles and registers serve both a practical and decorative purpose.  They allow the passage of heated or cooled air into an interior space.  A perforated grille is merely a plate with patterned holes in it, while a register contains a damper which may permit the regulation of the amount and direction of air flow into an area.   In addition to their functionality, architectural grilles and registers are increasingly utilized in renovations and new construction for their decorative and ornamental elements.
